How To Apply

Under the new guidelines, the Foundation is focused on making donations of a smaller size than we have historically given. Grants to new applicants will be in a range starting at $5000, and up to $100,000 in some instances.

Organizations interested in applying for funding should first submit a 1-2 page Letter of Inquiry to the foundation. The letter should briefly describe:

  • The organization and the project or proposed activities
  • How the work aligns with the foundation’s interests
  • Intended request amount (and total project cost if applicable)
  • Why support from the foundation would be meaningful at this time

We will respond to the Letter of Inquiry within 6 weeks. Organizations that are invited to submit a full application will have up to 6 weeks to submit a complete package of materials that must include:

  • Applicant Cover Sheet
  • Proposal Narrative (maximum of 10 pages; please refer to “Grant Proposal Format” document for details)
  • Completion of Mission Measurement’s Impact Genome online survey (link will be provided)
  • Attachments + Organization budget
  • Most recently audited financial statements or tax return
  • Board of Directors list
  • List of foundation and corporate funders
  • Proof of nonprofit charitable status
  • Project budget (if applicable)

Foundation staff may also request a site visit as part of our review of the request. We aim to notify applicants of a decision within 8-10 weeks of receiving a proposal. There are no fixed deadlines, and Letters of Inquiry and full proposals are accepted on a rolling basis.
