South Muskoka Memorial Hospital receives $1 million donation for Emergency Department

The South Muskoka Memorial Hospital received its largest donation in history with a $1 million donation in June 2014 from the Peter Gilgan Foundation. This donation sets the stage for a $6.5 million campaign to raise funds for new technology and equipment for the hospital to contribute to better emergency care in Muskoka.

“This gift from the Peter Gilgan Foundation will help to further improve the care we provide by helping to ensure we have the leading edge equipment and technology that we rely on,” said Natalie Bubela, Chief Executive Officer of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare.

“A strong hospital has competent and caring staff. A strong hospital has solid infrastructure and up-to-date technology,” said Paul Hammond. Chair of the Muskoka Hospital Foundation. “You have helped to make us even stronger and on behalf of everyone who benefits from your generosity, we thank you.”
