2014 Tour de Bleu raises $1.84 million for Sunnybrook Hospital

Each year a group of passionate and committed cyclists join Peter on his Tour de Bleu annual fundraising ride. Since it was created in 2005 more than $5.4 million has been raised for community charities. The Tour de Bleu event combines two days of cycling over 250 km in and around Ontario’s Muskoka Lakes with a goal to raise funds for a worthy cause.

This year, more than 50 cyclists participated in the 2014 Tour de Bleu, marking the largest event in its 10-year history and raising $1.84 million towards the purchase of a state of the art MRI scanner that will aid prostate cancer patients at Sunnybrook.

“Through research, Sunnybrook has been a leader in developing MRI techniques for prostate cancer detection. Thanks to the purchase of an MRI, our prostate cancer Centre will be able to use this superior imaging technology on a large scale,” said Dr. Calvin Law, Chief of the Odette Cancer Program.
