Announcing New Funding Themes and Job Opportunities

July 21, 2022

We’re excited to share our refreshed funding priorities: Children, Youth & Families; Climate Change; and International Development. The broad priorities remain unchanged, but we’ve identified some areas for greater focus. We’re also adopting approaches that aim to be more responsive to community needs and more proactive in identifying solutions. Find out more about our focus areas on the Grant Programs page.

A Fresh Approach

We’ve reoriented the ‘Environment & Sustainability’ priority. It’s now called ‘Climate Change’ to clearly state our commitment to combating climate change. We’ve also called out a focus on Indigenous youth, and look forward to working with partners to develop the right approach. Our strategy will include increased giving to Indigenous-led organizations, small GTA community-based charities, and partners led by members of the communities they serve. New and growing focus areas include:

  • nature-based climate solutions
  • green building skills and technologies
  • Indigenous reconciliation
  • food security
  • youth mental health
  • social mobility
  • international gender equity including support for WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) and women smallholder farmers.

We are so excited to launch a new strategic vision that speaks to the Gilgan family’s values. We look forward to deepening relationships with current partners and to building new partnerships that will address today’s most pressing issues.
